Quote of the Week: February 25

The leading rule for the lawyer, as for the man of every other calling, is diligence. Leave nothing for tomorrow which can be done to-day.

WSSA Southern Regional/Texas State Championship

Saturday, February 16, the 4 homeschoolers participated in the Southern Regional tournament. We competed in all the different events including the 3-3-3, the 3-6-3, the Cycle, the timed 3-6-3 Relay, the Head-To-Head 3-6-3, the Head-To-Head Cycle Relay, and Doubles. We beat two Texas State Records in the 3-6-3 Timed Relay and Doubles (by Allison and Luke).

We brought home 20 medals and one trophy. To his disappointment, Caleb was doing really well on his practices, and even placed on the 3-3-3 and 3-6-3, but once he got up in front of the judges for the cycle, fumbled and did terrible. Luke didn’t make an 8 on the cycle as he had hoped, but he made a decent 9.65 in finals. Sadly, Katlyn didn’t make it past the prelims in the Cycle stack in her age division. There’s some tough competition in her age division—a lot of really fast kids! Allison had it easy, because there were only 5 people, including her, in the 15-18 age division. Although it’s fun to receive medals for our hard work, ultimately we did this because it’s something we enjoy. Everyone agrees that the best part is the relay…it’s a blast!

Just as an encouragement for anyone competing in any type of thing, winning isn’t everything. Everyone likes to win, to do well, but really, what are a few trophies and medals going to be worth in 10 or 20 years? The best part is to have fun, and to be a good sport no matter how good or bad you do.

Quote of the Week: February 4

Work is either fun or drudgery. It depends on your attitude. I like fun.
